With the election over, the City of Chicago now turns to planning the 2021 budget. Mayor Lori Lightfoot has put out her $12.8 billion proposal, and City Council will soon vote on it. A pandemic budget which must be written and passed absent any additional federal or state assistance, the proposal isn’t ideal – there will be pain for all of us in the form of rising taxes and cut services. But, does this budget address the economic pain in an equitable manner? Does it go far enough to protect historically underinvested areas of the city? How does it invest in our post-pandemic financial future?

Join Finance Committee Chair Alderman Scott Waguespack and Alderman Matt Martin for part two of our Chicago financial series at a Virtual Town Hall on Thursday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m.

This event is free to attend, but requires advance registration.
